Dehradun road repairs October 2026: pothole deadline, sewer work by 1 Nov
The CM told officials on 13 October 2026 to finish sewer and water pipeline work by 1 November and fix dug-up roads. Patchwork in parts of Dehradun is still pending.

What happened
The CM's meeting on 13 October. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met all district magistrates, senior police superintendents, both divisional commissioners and the home secretary at his official residence in Dehradun on 13 October 2026. Khas Khabar and Tarun Mitra described it as a meeting of nearly four hours. Amar Ujala reported the CM's message as: if roads are found broken, officials will be held responsible.
1 November for sewer and pipeline work. All three reports say the CM ordered that incomplete sewer and drinking water pipeline works be finished by 1 November, with immediate repair of the roads dug up for them. Tarun Mitra reported that the aim is to spare residents, traders and travellers the trouble. The CM also said he will soon tour the state by road and act against officers if he finds broken roads or careless repairs. The reports we read did not list which sewer or pipeline projects in Dehradun this covers.
Patchwork two days before its deadline. The state had set 15 October as the target to make roads pothole-free. Pioneer Edge reported on 14 October that PWD engineer-in-chief Rajesh Chandra Sharma said about 1,000 kilometres of patchwork still remained across Uttarakhand. In Dehradun district, the PWD's provincial division has listed patch repairs on 80 kilometres of roads for 2026-27, at an estimated cost of Rs 577.01 lakh, or about Rs 5.77 crore.
Which roads are still waiting. Pioneer Edge named Rangadwala, Ambiwala, Sudhowala, Nehrugram and Mohkampur among areas where work was pending. It said the Sankri-Khanduwala road in Sahaspur and the stretch from the Rangadwala police outpost towards Meethiberi and Ambiwala were listed as ongoing. Internal roads in Saket Colony, in Aryanagar ward, and in Vijay Colony were still at the contract stage. The paper said it remains to be seen whether the department can meet the deadline.
Two dates, not one. Sources differ on the final date. Doon Khabar reported on 11 October that 15 October is the PWD's target for patchwork, and 30 October is the deadline for making all district roads pothole-free. It named Sahaspur, Jhajra, Sudhowala, Manduwala, Selaqui, Bhauwala and Bidholi among the areas covered. It also reported that only 36 of 46 inspectors assigned to the drive had submitted reports on 92 damaged road sections by then.
Earlier orders. On 3 September, Asianet Newsable reported a separate CM review of urban development. It covered a 15-day survey of roads in development authority areas and a real-time dashboard in every development authority to track illegal construction from detection to demolition.
What it means for buyers and renters in Dehradun
This section is our view.
A deadline is not a finished road. Monsoon damage, sewer trenches and pipeline cuts are the main reasons many colony roads in Dehradun are in poor shape this autumn. The orders may speed things up, but the reports themselves show work at very different stages. Judge a road by what you see, not by the date in the news.
Visit the site on the road you will use every day. If you are looking at a plot or house in Sahaspur, Sudhowala, Jhajra, Selaqui or other western areas, drive the actual approach road, not only the main highway. Go once after rain if you can. Our post on land prices in west Dehradun in October 2026 covers the area in more detail.
Ask who dug the road and who will fix it. In colonies where sewer or water lines were laid, ask neighbours or the ward councillor whether the road was restored. A trench that was filled but not surfaced can stay that way for months. Our post on the Selaqui water supply tender and Sahaspur roads has more on water work in that belt.
Do not pay extra for a promised road. A seller or dealer may say the road will be built "next month". Price the property as it stands today. If a new road comes, that is a bonus.
Renters should check access before signing. Moving in during repairs can mean weeks of dust and blocked parking. Ask the owner about any planned work in the lane. You can browse houses for rent in Dehradun on ILA Infra.
