Selaqui, Dehradun 2026: ₹95.19 crore water tender and Sahaspur road works

What happened

Selaqui and the villages around it in Sahaspur block sit west of Dehradun on the Dehradun–Paonta highway. The SIIDCUL industrial area there is a pharma and consumer goods hub, and the belt has seen steady house and plot building. Three pieces of news this year touch how livable it is.

A ₹95.19 crore water tender. Doon Khabar reported on 11 October 2026 that Uttarakhand Peyjal Nigam has issued a tender for the "SELAQUI Water Supply Scheme Block Sahaspur District Dehradun". The estimated cost is ₹95.19 crore. The scheme falls under the World Bank-funded Uttarakhand Efficient Water Supply Program (eWSP). According to the state e-tender portal, as quoted by Doon Khabar, the tender was issued on 6 October, online bidding opened on 8 October, bids close at 5 pm on 24 October, and bids open on 28 October 2026.

Doon Khabar was careful about what is not yet known. It said people in Manduwala, Horawala, Jhajra and Bhauwala have hopes from the scheme, but the official tender summary does not confirm separately that each of these places will benefit. The actual work, such as pipelines and other structures, will only be clear from the detailed tender papers and bill of quantities. Its editorial note said claims of work starting in November–December 2026, and of new tubewells and tanks, could not be confirmed from the tender summary. No start date for construction has been announced.

A road-repair deadline. In a separate report on 11 October, Doon Khabar said the district administration under DM Ashish Chauhan has set 15 October for patchwork and 30 October 2026 for pothole-free roads. The areas named include Sahaspur, Jhajra, Sudhowala, Manduwala, Selaqui, Bhauwala and Bidholi. It reported that 92 damaged road sections were identified, 46 officers were assigned to inspect them, and 36 had filed reports by 11 October. The report itself doubted that every road would be fixed by the deadline.

A ₹12.03 crore road widening. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami laid the foundation stone for the second phase of road widening in Sahaspur, at a cost of ₹1,203.40 lakh. A Bit Far reported this on 12 February 2026, and Doon Khabar carried a report on it on 3 October 2026. Both say it covers km 1 to 10 on the Meethiberi–Parwal–Chandni Chowk road and the Parwal–Vigyan Dham, Jhajra road. Announcements made at the same event included a tubewell for drinking water in Bhauwala and a drain from Daru Chowk to the Keshavwala river to deal with waterlogging. Neither report gave a completion date.

Local road disputes continue. ETV Bharat reported on 31 July 2026 that residents of Swastik Enclave, Shivalik Enclave and Shriram Puram protested at Sahaspur MLA Sahdev Pundir's home over a proposed road near Selaqui Raja Road. The MLA said he had asked the department for financial approval.

The jobs side. In May 2026, about 1,600 workers in the Selaqui industrial area protested over pay, overtime and conditions, Pioneer Edge reported. The protest turned violent near the Dixon Technologies unit, and 500–600 people were booked. Garhwal Post reported that the state had announced revised minimum wages a day earlier, from ₹13,018 a month for unskilled workers to ₹14,611 for highly skilled workers.

What it means for buyers and renters in Dehradun

This section is our view.

Water is the question to ask first in Selaqui. Many colonies here depend on private borings or patchy supply. A tender is a start, not a tap. Until the tender papers show which colonies get pipelines, do not assume a plot or house will be covered. Ask the seller how water comes in today, and check with the Peyjal Nigam or Jal Sansthan office for that mohalla. Our post on Song Dam and Dehradun's water supply covers the city side.

Visit after rain. The new drain at Daru Chowk was announced because of waterlogging. Walk the approach road to any plot in the wet season. Note whether it is on a road listed for widening, because that can affect frontage.

Rental demand is tied to the factories. Selaqui rooms and small flats are rented largely by factory staff on wages close to the new minimums. That keeps rents modest and turnover high. Landlords should register tenants with the police. Buyers counting on rental income should not expect city-centre rents.

Do the usual land checks. Parts of the wider Vikasnagar area have had restricted khasras and title issues. Use our list of papers to check before buying a plot in Dehradun, and read our note on west Dehradun land prices for the nearby market.
